The Bookends Review published my story
Today, I’m honored to share that The Bookends Review, an independent creative arts journal, published my literary short story called The Labyrinth Realization. I wrote it in 2024, but I felt it deserved a little more attention. I submitted it to three literary magazines, and The Bookends Review accepted it, but said it would take over a year for it to be published. That time has at last arrived.

Have you ever been in a labyrinth? I’ve walked several, and they are all unique and have the capacity for spiritual guidance. With that in mind, I wrote a story about Vera whose husband was undergoing surgery. While waiting, Vera walks the hospital’s labyrinth. To read the full story, head here.
One of the best experiences I’ve had with labyrinths, was at Bandon, Oregon’s Circles in the Sand event. Check out the photo gallery here. Thank goodness for photos because the labyrinths disappear with the tide.

I haven’t been posting much because I’ve been so busy writing! Here’s an update. Willful Obsession was initially a standalone novella. It has spawned two more stories to form a trilogy. As I write this, the second story in the trilogy, The Twilight Splash, has been written but needs another edit before going to the professional editor in September. The first draft of the third and final story in the trilogy, Swirling Truths, is 90% written. Stay tuned for future publications.

If you want to escape to a compelling, cozy mystery, check out Willful Obsession: A Lake Waluga Mystery. If you admire strong women amateur sleuths, suspenseful stories with surprising twists, quirky characters, a charming town with loads of secrets, community gardens and friendly neighborhoods, and most of all love animals, this story is for you.
